2026 Back-to-School Weekend: Two Great Community Events to Help Families Get Ready for the School Year
The Albemarle Foundation for Education (AFE) and Albemarle County Public School’s (ACPS) 2026 Back to School Bash and the Kicks & Cuts Back 2 School Bash are joining forces on Sunday, August 9th! While both events share the goal of supporting students, they each offer different resources, making it possible for families to attend both and take advantage of everything available.
Stony Point Elementary Outdoor Education Program

2026 Community Impact Award for Graduating Seniors
These thirteen ACPS seniors have received the inaugural Community Impact Award – an honor for graduating ACPS students who have masterfully balanced academics with meaningful change in the community.
Community Partners Breakfast
The Albemarle Foundation for Education hosted a Community Breakfast to highlight how Communities in Schools (CIS) supports ACPS in addressing absenteeism, meeting basic and essential needs, and providing mental health support.

This year, we are glad to announce the implementation of the CIS Model on the Lambs Lane Campus (Greer Elementary, Journey Middle, and Albemarle High) and Red Hill Elementary School.
Back to School Bash
The 13th annual Back-to-School Bash brought hundreds of families to the Ting Pavilion on Saturday, offering school supplies, entertainment, and community resources to help students prepare for the upcoming academic year.
Fall Mobile Market
Staff from Woodbrook Elementary, Albemarle Foundation for Education, and Albemarle County Public Schools’ leadership. received deliveries, packed bags, and distributed fresh produce, shelf-stable items from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
Winter Mobile Market
Through a powerful partnership between the Albemarle Foundation for Education, Communities In Schools, and the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, we were able to serve 74 families from the Woodbrook Elementary School community.
