Back to School Bash
The 13th annual Back-to-School Bash brought hundreds of families to the Ting Pavilion on Saturday, offering school supplies, entertainment, and community resources to help students prepare for the upcoming academic year.
Parents and students received free backpacks and supplies as part of the event’s effort to support local youth. The Bash also featured live student performances, music, games, and more than a dozen resource booths representing community organizations and school-related services.
"Our mission was really to create a community commitment to helping every student in Albemarle County thrive," said Randy Tripp Jr., with the Albemarle Foundation for Education. "This event is a perfect example of being able to do that, where the community connects with the school system and is able to connect with the students and their families."
The Back to School Bash provided backpacks and school supplies to Albemarle County Public School (ACPS) students. There were also opportunities for students to receive vaccinations and sports physicals. The event also brought together city, county, and community organizations that provided engaging activities for families and information about community resources. There was also food, music, and ice cream.
1,166 backpacks distributed to students on event day, with an additional 533 distributed through schools.
40 community partners hosted resource tables, providing services and supports to families.
54 students received sports physicals thanks to our health partners.
Families enjoyed a day filled with music, food, games, and connections that embodied the spirit of collaboration and community.
