We help every ACPS student shine

Our Mission:

At the heart of a strong community is a thriving public school system. As the designated 501(c)(3) for Albemarle County Public Schools, the Albemarle Foundation for Education (AFE) mobilizes community support to meet critical needs, enrich student experiences, and create opportunities that wouldn't otherwise exist.

Who AFE Supports

As the non-profit arm of ACPS, we serve nearly 14,000 students in preschool through 12th grade across one of Virginia’s largest counties by area-a community that encompasses rural, suburban, and urban settings. Our student body reflects extraordinary diversity, representing more than 103 countries of origin and 78 home languages. Although it varies year to year, on average 13% of students have disabilities and 28% are economically disadvantaged

Close opportunity gaps

We help ensure every student—regardless of background or circumstance—has access to the resources, enrichment, and support they need to thrive.
